In an effort to diversify tourism outside the capital and to encourage people to travel beyond the usual Tokyo-Kyoto-Osaka circuit, which will be overburdened next summer as Tokyo being the host city for 2020 summer Olympics, the Japan authorities have plan to push tourists to discover less-visited spots that will no doubt appreciate the revenue and attention.

Making a smarter move towards this direction, Japan Airlines, the Japanese flag carrier is going to give away 50,000 free round-trip tickets to overseas visitors next summer. Though the lucky winners won’t be jetting off to the capital city as these trips are exclusively made for lesser-visited cities.
As explained by the airlines website, when contestants send in their application form, they will see a list of four possible destinations where they could be sent. Hopeful travellers can explore more than once to see different combinations of cities.

As the contest’s travel period runs from1st July to 30th September, so for anyone with plans to be in Japan during this period, this could be indeed worth trying for.
If the application is all perfect, then the winners will receive an email within three days, letting them know which destinations they’re going.

To enter the contest, applicants must be members of the Japan Airlines loyalty program, so sign up today ahead of the contest opening in late February. The contest is only applicable to those who are registered with the program in a country outside of Japan.
The multi-sport international event is scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020 in Tokyo and the following Paralympics will last through September 6. The Japanese government expects 10 million people will pour into the country for the athletic events in 2020.
