Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA), the lone international airport of Odisha has added another feather to its cap recently. BPIA has been conferred with the Best Airport Award in Airport Service Quality (ASQ) by Airport Council International (ACI).
The award was presented at ACI’s Customer Experience Global Summit held in Bali, Indonesia on Wednesday.. BPIA Director Suresh Chandra Hota received this award at the function.
Director Hota said on Sunday that the airport has been chosen as the best under 2 to 5 million passengers category for 2018.This is for the second consecutive time BPIA has been conferred with this prestigious award.
Apart from BPIA, two more airports from India have been awarded as best airports (Under 2 to 5 million passengers in Asia-Pacific region). Chandigarh Airport and Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport (Indore) have bagged this award under this category.
On the basis of independent survey amongst passengers on various parameters like security, safety, experience, ambiance, ease of availability and cleanliness, this award is accorded.
The passenger traffic at Bhubaneswar Airport has increased by 40.58 per cent in the year 2018-19. During this period, BPIA has handled 44, 51,163 local air travellers where as the number of international passengers has reached 99,410.
Similarly, over 40 million passengers category, Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai and Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi have also received this award.
