Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the Rudra meditation cave in Kedarnath in May this year has made this place a popular tourist destination. A mere single booking to this place earlier, has now turned to a tall 78 after PM Modi’s visit here,as per the official figure.
Though it was opened to the common people in 2018,but this is first time it happened, tourists have booked in advance. 19 bookings came for September and 10 for October 10 so far.
Rudra Caves is situated barely a kilometre away from the famous Kedarnath shrine in Uttarakhand.PM Modi spent a day meditating here during the final days of general elections this year. The Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) is taking care of this cave. Praising PM Modi,tourism minister Prahlad Singh Patel said, he is the brand ambassador of tourism in India and attracts attention wherever he goes.
This cave is situated in a very remote area and mostly meant for mediation.So only one person allowed to go here at a time. For one night booking to this place, it costs Rs.1500 and for the day from 6 am to 6 pm it costs Rs.999.Though situated in a very isolated place, but a phone has been fixed there so that visitors can use it during emergency. Starting from morning tea to breakfast, lunch, evening tea and dinner are served to the tourists here. The place has a bathroom and a heater and installed with a electric water system for visitors.
