Ladakh will get a “dedicated office” on World Tourism Day which will work towards boosting up the tourism sector in the region, said Prahlad Patel, the Culture and Tourism minister on Thursday.
This move is targeted at both revenue and employment generation in the region.
Ladakh, the “land of high passes” often complained of a step-motherly treatment will shortly get a dedicated tourism office. Ministry of tourism is working towards the target of ensuring that development does not lag behind in this area,” as Patel said.
He also updated that a number of major projects will be launched in upcoming months with an intend to make Ladakh an international tourist destination.
From September 3 to September 6, the whole secretariat of the tourism department will shift to Leh. A detailed list of projects that could be undertaken and will be completed in a stipulated time is getting prepared. Prime Minister is most likely to announce these projects soon, Patel further added.
After Ladakh, tourism ministry will shift its focus on Jammu and Kashmir, the Minister informed.
“Normalcy will be restored in the Valley soon. We will be ready with our projects to showcase this beautiful region to the world and to the country.” Minister said.
