Tourists now can enjoy a boat ride to behold the beauty of Taj Mahal, since a new water route has been developed which starts from Delhi goes through Agra and reaches Prayagraj. Built at an expense of Rs 12, 000 crore, the project will make a mark in the water tousim sector of the country. Nitin Gadkari led Indian Government’s Shipping & Water Resources Ministry, is going to submit the plan to the World Bank very soon.
To enhance country’s tourism the Modi government worked in all possible aspects with special emphasis on water route tourism. Therefore a dream boat ride to relish the unmatched beauty of the iconic Taj Mahal is soon going to be materialized. Under the new plan, tourists will be able to travel to Agra and Prayagraj through a new water route.
The Union Minister spoke about the venture when he was at Delhi laying the foundation stone for a fully automated parking tower at Green Park locality of the capital city. This automated parking tower was commissioned by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation.
The water route that connects Delhi to Agra to Prayagraj, is through the Yamuna river. As Gadkari said, the Ministry wants to offer people a different way to visit Agra’s Taj Mahal through the new water route.
Other than this new water route, the Ministry is also planning to run hybrid aeroboats on it. These hybrid aeroboats are capable of travelling on land, water, marshy land and snow.
However this is one among the other water tourism projects that the country is going to boast of. In future there are many more to be encountered. But the key to its smooth running is the cleaning of the main rivers of the country. Agreeing to the fact, Gadkari said that once the key rivers are clean, the scope of moving tourists and goods through water will go up.
Mean while, the government is renovating the National Waterways 1 under Jal Marg Vikas Project (JMVP). The world’s largest container shipping firm, Maersk, completed a voyage on the National Waterways 1 on the Ganga river recently.
