‘Jai Hind’ – the saluting words are to be followed by every flight announcement in Air India now. The national airlines has given instructions regarding this to its crew members by issuing an advisory yesterday.
‘Jai Hind’, most commonly used in India to show patriotism towards the country. The term translates roughly to “Victory to India”or “Long live India”. Made famous by Netaji Subash Chandra Boseand its subsequent use as a national patriotic salutation in independent India, the term is the shortened form of “Jai Hindustan Ki”.
The official advisory, issued on Monday, emphasized the fact that the crew would now have to say “Jai Hind” after every flight announcement “with much fervour”. According to Officials, it is a “reminder” to the staff, in line with the “mood of the nation”.
Amitabh Singh, Director of Operations issued the advisory on Monday, which read. “With immediate effect, all (crew) are required to announce ”Jai Hind” at the end of every announcement after a slight pause and much fervour,”
A similar sort can be comparable here in this context when the Air India’s Chairman and Managing Director, Ashwani Lohani had issued a similar direction to the pilots in May 2016, during his first tenure.
In 2016 May, communicating with his staff members Mr Lohani said, “It is a good thing that the captain of a flight should often connect with passengers during the journey and, at the end of first address, using the words ‘Jai Hind’ would make a tremendous impact.”
He believed, a sweet and polite conversation with a smile on the face ; without any sign of irritation would be a good thing always. He also had instructed the crew that, “Following the Indian tradition they should greet the passengers at the time of emplaning and deplaning with a ”namaskaar” .
Polite gestures along with patriotic words will say a lot about the country’s civilisation and glorious culture. These things cost nothing but buy everything.
