On The Line Of Excess Announcements On Magenta Line Inside Metro Trains, DMRC Has Taken Necessary Steps

Too much announcements on Magenta Line – is the complain that comes from the Delhi metro users. Taking the inconvenience into consideration, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has decided to regulate both audio and video announcements on the Magenta Line i.e. Line 8 – Janakpuri West to Botanical Garden.

The decision comes into effect from  February 18, on a trial basis for three months and with this, 34 announcements, which are made in both audio and video formats, are going to dwindle away to just 7 only.

However, mandatory briefings like departure and arrival-related announcements, will remain unchanged.

Further, DMRC’s future course of action whether to continue this and introduce it on the Pink Line as well, will be decided after 3 months, watching the reactions of the current initiative.

As said the DMRC, “This feature in other different lines will need to be tested independently as those trains do not have the system of the video display for announcements.”

Some of the announcements which will only be on video are :
* Welcome to Delhi Metro. We hope you have an enjoyable journey with us,
* After the journey, passengers are requested to deposit the tokens and unauthorised possession of token will be considered offensive invoking a fine of ₹200/- or prosecution under Indian Penal Code
* For cheaper and convenient travel, please make the use of smart cards.

And the seven mandatory audio announcements related to safety and conduct are :
* Any abandoned or suspicious articles like briefcase, bag, toy, thermos or transistor etc could be bomb
* On request no passenger should sit on the floor of the train
* Playing music is not allowed inside the train
* The First  passenger car in moving direction is reserved for ladies only
* Spitting chewing gum, gutkha, paan, tobacco etc. inside the train or at station is prohibited.

Apart from these, announcements like, male passengers are requested not to board the coach which is reserved for ladies and doing this is a punishable offence – will be made at the platform only, instead of the trains.

Important information like next station, door opening side, destination station, and the terminal station will continue to be announced as before on  both the audio and video formats inside the trains.

The DMRC believes that these measures will help  commuters in enjoying  peaceful journey afterwards.
