Belgium’s Nation-wide General Transportation Strike will Bring the Country to a Standstill next week

The trade unions of Belgium such as Christian, socialist and liberal have called for a massive nation-wide general strike on coming Wednesday, February 13, over wage disputes.

Belgian authorities warns the travelers to anticipate a huge delay because of strike when traveling by plane, train and bus .

As the planned work-stoppage by the three trade unions is expected to “seriously disrupt” travel across the country, with 150 of the day’s 222 scheduled flights have already been canceled, which directly affecting 11,288 passengers.

Elongated delays and cancellations at the airport are expected to radically increase vehicle-traffic which could carry motorways across the country to a crawl. Above all, demonstrations planned for Brussel’s city center will severely increase travel times in the capital.

Air France, British Airways, Lufthansa, and Swiss International Airline flights in and out of the UK may also have an effect due to the strike. The Airlines are advising passengers to leave home well in advance before time for flights, just bring carry-on luggage and, if at all possible, better to cancel the travel plans altogether.
