To connect Sonbhadra with the state’s tourism network and to lure not just domestic but foreign tourists, several facilities like tourist bungalows and bio-toilets are going to be constructed in the district. Rock paintings along with sites like Sonbhadra’s Kaimur Wildlife Sanctuary, Salkhan Fossil Park, Vijaygarh Fort, Agori Fort, Mukkha Waterfall will soon make a strong presence on the tourism map. Tourist Banglo will also take shape for tourists. Sonbhadra DM Rajalingam has invited members of the Tourism Welfare Association to work out a detailed action plan in this regard.
DM S. Rajalingam was having a virtual meeting with the association recently. Tourism officials of Varanasi and Mirzapur divisions were also present in the meeting. A government official said the Varanasi and Mirzapur division tourism officer Kirtiman Srivastava has submitted a proposal for developing tourist bungalows on 5 acres to Sonbhadra district magistrate S Rajalingam. Srivastava said that work on the bungalows will start within six months.
To strengthen the possibilities of tourism development in Sonbhadra, a team of experts will go to Sonbhadra and will prepare a two- to three-day tour package and give its opinion on the expansion of tourism facilities. The possibilities of film tourism will also be considered. Members suggested to work by connecting local residents so that domestic and foreign tourists can also enjoy the handicraft and traditional food there. Dr. Amit Pal Sharma, CDO, Sonbhadra informed about the efforts of the district administration for promotion of tourist places.
The government has already sanctioned Rs 281 lakh for way-finding traffic solutions in Sonbhadra. Under this, signboards are being set up across the area to help guide tourists to important locations. The board will also have information about the tourist sites. An said by an official, work of about Rs 25 lakh has already been completed.
