Florida based Carnival Cruise Lines is prepared to return after August 2020! After a fresh announcement made a week back, the international cruise line has said that it will restart its operations for the majority of its fleet post August this year. The company has announced that it is postponing its operations till August 31 which earlier were suspended till June 26. The operations before this were expected to resume in April but given the scenario of the Covid-19 pandemic, it did not operate. Further, the resumption is subjected to CDC lifting its order which is at this time restricts sailing. The company plans to comply with government norms moving ahead.
In a statement, Carnival informed that any kind of resumption for cruise operations, whenever it may be, will be fully dependent on the company’s efforts and cooperation with federal, state, and local along with international government officials. It further said that whenever the services are resumed, it will follow enhanced operational protocols which involves all the social guidelines issued by the government officials.
Following the company’s announcement for operations post August, the booking for the cruise increased by 600 per cent, according to the international media. The report further added that this is also a 200 per cent increase when compared to the number of bookings last year.
In the meantime in India, the cruise operations are at present suspended until further notice. Last month, more than 100 crew members who were stranded on a cruise ship near Thailand as a lockdown was announced, have been brought back to the country, as media reported. The ship docked at Mumbai harbour after permission by the Ministry of Shipping was given. Furthermore, the Ministry of Home Affairs had also issued an order that enabled all the employees of commercial as well as professional ships to dock on Indian harbours and then move out. This, according to a media report, was done to help out 35,000 to 40,000 Indian sailors along with other employees of such ships who were stranded in the seas.
