Coronavirus update: Sec 144 imposed in 4 Bihar, 2 districts of J & K

As a precautionary measure, prohibitory orders have been imposed in two districts of Jammu and Kashmir and four districts of Bihar in view of the current health emergency because of coronavirus outbreak

As said by an official spokesperson on Saturday, the orders under Section 144, Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), will remain in effect for a month in Kishtwar and 15 days in Ramban district of Jammu.

In Bihar, the state government has imposed Section 144 of CrPC in Sheohar, Banka, Gopalganj and Samastipur districts on Saturday.

District administrations of Sheohar and Banka have confirmed that prohibitory orders were issued under Section 144.

As said by district magistrate of Samastipur, Section 144 imposed to discourage people to gather at one place.

According to health department officials, all concerned district officials are  on the alert and advised to expedite the awareness campaign concerning coronavirus among people.

Apart from that, hospitals have been instructed to get ready to deal with any situation.

In Jammu, Kishtwar District Development Commissioner has imposed a ban as a precautionary step, on the gathering of more than five persons at any public place in the entire district with an immediate effect for a period of one month.

Also, orders for the closure of gymnasiums, tuition centres, coaching institutes,suspension of classes in schools, academic and technical colleges, university campuses and anganwari centres till March 31 have already been issued.

Ramban District Magistrate has imposed restrictions under section 144, CrPC in the district with an immediate effect for a period of 15 days to ensure effective implementation of precaution to prevent the danger of  coronavirus.

As of now, the number of coronavirus positive cases in the country has climbed up to 100 including the two recent deaths in Delhi and Karnataka, the Union Health Ministry said.
