As said by the Indian embassy on Tuesday, a chartered flight is being arranged to bring home Indians on board the cruise ship off the Japan coast those who have not tested positive for COVID19, as the figure going up of infected Indians on the vessel to 14 with two fresh cases.
The time when Diamond Princess docked at the Yokohama port, off the Japan coast near Tokyo, on 3rd February. there were 3,711 people including 138 Indians, 132 crew and 6 passengers on board the ship.
“A chartered flight is being arranged to repatriate Indian nationals on board Diamond Princess, provided they have (a)consented, (b) not tested positive for COVID19, (c) cleared by the medical team,” the mission tweeted on Tuesday.
“An email advisory to this cause, with details, has been sent to them,” it said.
As two more Indian crew members on board Diamond Princess tested positive for COVID-19, the number so far rose to 14, the embassy said on Monday, though all of them responding well to the treatment.
Passengers those showing no signs of the deadly disease, now started deboarding the ship after the quarantine period ended last week. Though still over 1,000 passengers and crew remain on board the ship after the disembarkations. The ship was quarantined as a passenger who disembarked in Hong Kong last month was found to be the carrier of the disease.
Seventy-one new coronavirus deaths were reported from China, which is the epicentre of the disease, taking the total casualties to 2,663, while the confirmed cases rose to 77,658.
