Just in a period of less than two hours, four medium intensity tremors of magnitudes ranging between 4.7 and 5.5 shook Jammu and Kashmir on Monday night, according to the National Centre for Seismology.
The first quake hit at 10:42 pm with a magnitude of 4.7, followed by another one of magnitude 5.5, just six minutes later.Both these occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres.
The third quake occurred at 10:58 pm measuring 4.6 followed by the fourth one of magnitude of 5.4 hit at 11:20 pm. While the third quake occurred at the depth of 36 kilometres, the fourth one occurred at 63 kilometres depth respectively.
No immediate reports of casualty and damage to properties has been reported.
The same Monday night at 10:29 pm, a quake with a magnitude of 5 hit the Andaman and Nicobar islands.
