After long three years Goa has re-introduced the Chopper rides this season. A set of new tourism activities are also coming up by Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC).The tourism secretary.of Goa J Ashok Kumar said,“The helipad is being readied. We plan to start the service this season.”
To operate the heli rides service all requisite permissions are already being obtained from the director general of civil aviation (DGCA), he added.
Though Goa Tourism has launched the helicopter rides in 2016 from a government-owned helipad at Aguada, but because of the opposition from locals, it had to discontinue the service. Since last two to three years GTDC has attempted to reintroduce the heli rides, but failed to do so as it could not finalise a ideal spot for a helipad at a centrally-located spot in the state.
5D entertainment is another service that will be introduced this season at Baga, Kumar said, adding that finalising a bidder for setting up a hanging restaurant at Anjuna is also under process.
To set up a giant wheel in the state, tender has been floated. Addition to this, a plan is also up to have land and sea-based adventure services for which an operator is going to be finalised. Though selecting a location and the type of adventure activities will be left to the operator to decide.
This year, GTDC has also added bungee jumping at Mayem to its list of adventure sports.
