In a very unusual happening with the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR), 53-year-old Pradeep Saxena,a tourist from Hooghly district died on Wednesday evening while trying to click a selfie and fell out of the running toy train in Darjeeling.
He was immediately taken to Darjeeling hospital but seeing his condition deteriorating further, the doctors decided to shift him to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital in Siliguri which was a four-hour drive.
“On the way to the hospital in Siliguri, Saxena was taken to Kurseong sub-divisional hospital as his condition kept getting worse. He was declared dead on arrival at the sub-divisional hospital,’’stated Gautam Deb,the state tourism minister. The Chief Minister has been informed and she has expressed her condolences to the bereaved family,”Deb added.
Saxena was holidaying in Darjeeling along with his wife and daughter during Durga Puja vacation.
