The Delhi leg of the Paryatan Parv 2019 concluded on Sunday and according to tourism ministry officials, around 2.5 lakh people visited the Rajpath lawns where the event had been taking place since October 2. This five day fest was the third edition of Paryatan Parv which was organised with the aim to increase tourism in various destinations of the country.
The ministry said the idea of Paryatan Parv is to spread the message of ‘DekhoApna Desh’, with the purpose to encourage Indians to visit different tourist destinations of the country and also to spread the message of ‘Tourism for All’.
This year the Paryatan Parv is dedicated to commemoration of 150 years of Mahatma Gandhi. The nationwide Paryatan Parv 2019 will continue till 13th October 2019.31 stalls of central government ministries as well as from states and union territories were set up at the venue in Delhi. 59 food stalls representing cuisines from all over the country were also setup. A multi media exhibition organised by the bureau of outreach communication of the ministry of information and broadcasting on 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was one of the key attractions, the ministry said.
The stall at the fest had a exceptional arrangement called ‘Smart Wall’ where people could select any landmark on the route taken by Gandhi during the Dandi March to get more detailed information.
A multi-media exhibition on Mahatma Gandhi organised by the Union Information Ministry was a major attraction.
“Though we did not have a ticket system for entry, but the estimated footfall ranges over 2.5 lakh as per video footage,” a senior Tourism Ministry official said.
During the event, a meeting of National Tourism Advisory Council (NTAC) was also held under the chairmanship of tourism minister Prahlad Singh Patel on 4th October 2019.
Tourism minister Patel said that the Paryatan Parv is a multicultural platform to make people feel motivated to explore various parts of their country. He urged the people to visit relatively less explored places of tourist interest which will help to support local economy and provide employment to the youth.
After Sunday’s conclusion of the Delhi leg of the fest, the event will subsequently travel to other locations accross the country till the coming October 13.
