The Green Globe certification is an analytical assessment of the sustainability performance of travel and tourism businesses and their subsidiaries. The foods & beverages on its outlets have a unique sense of freshness since the resort believes in growing its own plants, fruit trees and herbs in its own backyard. Further it doesn’t prefer importing food items from other foreign countries rather if needed the resort contacts the local farmers and vendors. And the fascinating fact about the resort is that all its eating place tables and guest rooms are decorated with flowers grown onsite. Earlier flowers used to be bought from outside vendors but now with the effort of the resort’s  gardeners the flowers that are blooming on their own ground   can provide the resort’s  indoor displays.

“This sort of initiative from the side of the resort greatly lowers its carbon footprint and also helps the neighboring towns with a developed quality life,” said Mr Gandara, General Manager, Ladera Resort.

Ladera Resort not only follow such eco-friendly activities by itself, but, earlier this year when celebrating the Earth Day, its Green Team worked on a tree plantation programme along with Les Etangs Combined School, a neighboring school in the community. The intention was to educate the students about the importance of environment in their lives and that the fruits, when harvested, will be served in the school’s cafeteria.

On the context Mr Gandara said, “With such initiatives, children will be able to learn  the importance of the environment at an early age. They can even have a sense of  how people depend on it to survive.” 

The resort has adopted a food packaging system which is environment friendly and also encourges the use of reusable drinking bottles, as its comprehensive sustainability management plan. With the step, the hotel aims to phase out single use of plastic items under its roof.

Explaining the resort’s going green practices Mr Gandara says,“Going Green is the prime motto of us. All our ‘To Go’ containers have been replaced with eco-friendly options like food container lids made of sustainable wood and 100 % biodegradable.”

The resort also avails a Ladera logo branded thermos flasks that can be filled with either cold or warm water as per the need, to all its maintenance, housekeeping and security staff members. Which further eliminates the need for plastic containers.

Setting itself as an example for the rest of the world, the steps taken by Ladera Resort are highly welcoming and essential in today’s scenario.
