India relaxes visa norms for Chinese nationals to attract more tourists

India has extended its E-Visa facility for china  to attract more numbers of Chinese travelers. The declaration for extension of E-Visa facility by the Indian government was made by the Indian Embassy in Beijing. This  e-visa facility now has been extended for the conference and medical attendants from China.

Earlier those attending conferences in India needed to obtain clearances from New Delhi to get visas. As per the statement from Indian embassy,the Conference Visa will be issued particularly for those who  wish to travel to India to attend any conference/seminar/workshop organised by Ministry or Department of Government of India, State Departments or Union Territories, Administration and their subordinate/attached organizations and PSUs. The documents required for such facility includes scanned bio-page of passport showing the photograph and invitation details from organisation.It also requires political clearance from the Ministry of External Affairs,the statement added.

The e-Medical Attendant Visa will be issued for those who wish to travel as attendant to e-Medical visa holder. The e-visa facility is now available for Tourist Visa, e-Business Visa, e-Medical Visa, e-Medical Attendant Visa and e-Conference Visa, it added.

In spite of  such e-visa facility , only 2.4 lakh Chinese travellers visited India last year.This is miserably against 14 lakh Indian travellers  visited China during the same period.

Minister of State for Tourism K J Alphons, accompanied by about 20 Indian tour operators, performed special campaigns in Beijing, Wuhan and Shanghai in August as part of India’s initiative  to woo more Chinese tourists to the country.

Overseas travelers visiting India with certain specific objectives are offered the E-Visa facility which includes medical treatment, yoga program of short-term, sightseeing and recreation,visiting relatives and friends,.

The applicants of E-Visa must have a passport that is valid for minimum 6 months from the arrival date to India. It should have minimum 2 blank pages for being stamped by the Immigration Officer.They also must possess a ticket for return or onward journey with adequate cash for expenses during their stay in India.
