Coronavirus: PM Modi cancels ‘Holi Milan’ events, asks people to avoid mass gatherings

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced  on Wednesday he has decided not to take part in any ‘Holi milan’ programme this year amid the global scare over coronavirus..As experts advised to reduce mass gatherings to avoid the spread of coronavirus, PM Modi advised fellow citizens  to follow the same.

In his twitter handle the PM said  “Experts across the world have advised to reduce mass gatherings to avoid the spread of COVID19 Novel Coronavirus. Hence this year, I have decided not to participate in any ‘Holi milan’ programme,”.

On Tuesday, PM Modi advised people to not scare as so far India counted a total of 6 confirmed cases of coronavirus. On Wednesday, AIIMS said that 15 of the total 21Italian tourists who were quarantined in New Delhi also tested positive. Though, they will undergo further tests before confirmation.

India has also banned travellers from 4 nations .According to the Union Health Ministry, all regular visas/e-visas granted on or before 3rd March to nationals of Italy, Iran, South Korea and Japan, who have not yet entered India, stand suspended of the emerging global scenarios regarding COVID19 disease.

As of now the outbreak of Coronavirus has spread to over 60 countries and claimed over 3,100 lives. More than 90,000 have been infected all over the world. The epicentre of coronavirus  mainland China had 119 new cases on Tuesday reaching the total in China to 80,270. The number of deaths rose by 38 to bring the total mainland China death toll to 2,981 by 3rd March.
