A Princess Diamond cruise ship with around 3,700 passengers (between travelers and crew) was quarantined in water in front of the Yokohama city port, south of Tokyo at the beginning of the month. Steps taken immediately after it was confirmed that a passenger who landed in Hong Kong was a carrier of the Coronavirus virus.
To avoid contagion the passengers were confined in their cabins. And one of the measures steps taken by the Japanese Ministry of Health was to deliver iPhones to the passengers. As reported, the authorities handed over around 2,000 iPhones to cruise passengers.
But why iPhones? The Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare is giving out the iPhones so that there must be one unit of phone per cabin. Here the application that allows patients to download an app where they could request medication and chat with doctors. Authorities concluded that giving passengers an iPhone would be the best way for them to get medical advice.
The earlier idea was to deliver cheaper Android smartphones. But there were doubts whether the app in cheaper phones would work correctly or not.So iPhones were finally chosen. The photographs taken on the cruise suggest that passengers receiving an iPhone 6s, that is of 2015 model.
Earlier this week, due to coronavirus fears the world’s largest mobile tech conference, Mobile World Congress was cancelled. A number of new smartphones were likely to launch at that event.
