Kylie Minogue woos Britons in new Tourism Australia campaign ‘Matesong’

Australian pop star Kylie Minogue has led an all-star cast in Australia’s latest tourism campaign, with an aim to persuade British tourists to escape to the easy-going land Down Under.

Australian singer-songwriter, Eddie Perfect  has written the original lyrics.This three-minute advert was filmed against a backdrop of extraordinary Australian locations and  premiered on British TV earlier.

With this overseas commercial campaign ‘Matesong’ , Tourism Australia has made the largest investment in the UK in more than a decade.

The cheerful Matesong musical tribute represents a symbolic hand of friendship from Australia, that celebrates the deep and enduring ties that exist between the two countries.

The musical tribute led by pop icon Kylie deliver was supported by Australian comedian and TV presenter Adam Hills,  cameo appearances from Australian sporting legends Shane Warne, Ash Barty and Ian Thorpe; model twins Zac and Jordan Stenmark; UK-born chef Darren Robertson from Three Blue Ducks and the Aboriginal Comedy Allstars.

Phillipa Harrison, the managing director of Tourism Australia, said that the festive season presented the great opportunity to capture the attention of millions of Brits.

The Queen’s annual Christmas speech is a key cultural moment in the UK, which attracts millions to watch on television and other online platforms.

Harrison said as January in the northern hemisphere winter is a time when many Brits are thinking of holidays abroad, Tourism Australia provides the perfect opportunity to engage with a captive audience and remind them why they should make that next trip Australia.

Kylie said she was overjoyed and honoured working with Tourism Australia to share Australia with people from her adopted UK home.Filming the Matesong music video was literally a dream come true for her. She got the opportunity to see parts of the country she had never seen before.

The ad campaign will run on British television and in cinemas, across digital and social platforms, and through out of home advertising.
