Mardi Gras won’t arrive on schedule. Saying this Carnival Cruise Line revealed the first eight sailings of the new 5,000-passenger Mardi Gras will be canceled as the ship won’t be ready as per schedule.
So It advises the booked guests and travel advisors that the first revenue sailing of the ship will be commence on 14th November 2020.
The cancellations is because of the delay at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, where the first ship in Carnival’s new XL class is currently under construction and to enter service in Europe on 31st August, 2020, before repositioning to New York for a series of voyages.It would then shift to Port Canaveral for year-round seven-day Caribbean cruises beginning in October.
The cancellations include are European, transatlantic, New York and Port Canaveral itineraries.
As said by Ben Clement, Carnival’s senior vice president, they have been working closely with Meyer Turku executives to keep the Mardi Gras delivery on schedule. Also his team deeply regret disappointing their guests for this change in the delivery date that is required to make sure all of the ship’s systems, features and technology will be fully operational to give the guests the vacation they expect.
Carnival is now offering its affected guests a 25% future cruise credit in addition to the full refund of their cruise fare (and applicable fees and taxes and other pre-purchased cruise components) in addition to the assistance with non-refundable airline and hotel reservations that already booked.
If the guests rebook their cruise vacation using their 25% cruise credit on or before 18th February,2020, then they will be given an additional $100 credit per person for onboard spending.
Carnival has already communicated guidelines to travel advisors about the commission protection.
