Kyarr intensifies into severe cyclonic storm, heavy rains,strong winds in coastal Maharashtra, Karnataka

The cyclonic storm ‘Kyarr’ has intensified into a severe cyclonic storm over the east-central Arabian Sea on early Friday bringing heavy rains in coastal Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and south Konkan regions, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said.

As said by the weather department Kyarr was centred about 190 km to the west of Ratnagiri and 330 km south-southwest of Mumbai, Maharashtra on Friday evening.

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the storm is likely to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by Saturday morning.

It is very likely the cyclone will  move west-north westwards towards Oman coast during next 5 days.

The weather forecast says the sea tide is very expected to be high to very high over the east-central Arabian Sea around the system centre during the next 12 hours and phenomenal thereafter from October 28 to 31

According to Weather department , light to moderate rainfall at various places is very likely to hit coastal districts of Karnataka, Goa, and south Konkan in the during next 12 hrs. Heavy showers over north Konkan might also take place in the same period, the weather department added.

Very strong winds are also likely to prevail along and off north Maharashtra, the weather department further added.
