Telangana Tourism Bags Global Award For Its Admirable Theme Song

Telangana Tourism has bagged the prestigious award of Best Film Award in a global competition of Japan World’s Tourism Film Festival, held in Osaka, Japan, recently. The theme song of the State Tourism has been acclaimed as the best one under the category of Cultural Tourism. Noted documentary filmmaker Dulam Satyanarayana was present at the two-day festival and was honoured with the opportunity of receiving the award for the state.

The award was a complete surprise for Dulam and with all excitement he worded, “I never expected to win this award because the theme song was in local language of Telugu and I thought it won’t engage the  international audience, but to my surprise everyone in the audience loved the short film and the song.”

Dulam had beautifully showcased the state’s cultural and architectural diversity through spectacular montage of State festivals like Bonalu, Bathukamma and monuments like Golconda Fort, the iconic Buddha Statue and the Warangal Fort, among others in this two-minute-long film.

The video was shot over a span of three to four weeks in remote areas of Telangana to portray the thriving diversity and traditions of the state. Explaining the cause, the filmmaker said, “There’s so much more to see in Telangana and I wanted to break the stereotype that the state is only restricted to Hyderabad. So I shot in unexplored territories in Warangal district, areas of Komaram Bheem district, Adilabad and other rural places to bring out the authenticity of our land.”

Therefore it took a lot of time for Dulam to research and explore different parts of the state to start the shooting of the film. However, his strategy of bringing out the raw sense of the beauty of Telangana worked perfectly.

Before this, the filmmaker also won the Best Asian Film Award for Visit Telangana – a promo commissioned by Telangana Tourism Department, at the prestigious International Tourism Film Festival in 2018 held in Leiria, Portugal.
