Indian Railways is now on its mission of development at a great pace. Leaving its deteriorating conditions far behind it shines with new approaches nowadays. This time the development indicates a faster Rajdhani Express train services. With a new ‘Make in India’ technology, the time taken by Rajdhani Express trains to finish an adventure will be decreased soon.
By this new technology, engines will be attached on each ends of the express trains and with this the train’s travel time is likely to be reduced by at least an hour. Usually, these express passenger trains run with one engine.
The new technology involves a push and pull method which has been tested on 1 February 2019 on a commercial course of the Delhi-Mumbai Rajdhani Express. The innovative method has successfully reduced the train’s travel time by 106 minutes, as reported.
According to an official, this completely is a home made project with no extra expenses, utilizing indigenous rolling stocks only. Moreover, in less cost, this new method bring more positive changes such as enhanced speed and there is no need to attach or detach the stored locomotive any more. Additionally with the help of two engines on either ends, the train will be able to run even on rising gradients at higher speeds as the two engines will be attached to each other through cabling and will work simultaneously.
This particular occurrence has been noticed on several courses of the train like during the run of Delhi-Mumbai Rajdhani Express at Kasara railway station, even at a foot of rising gradient, the train hit the destination seven minutes before its scheduled arrival and continued that. The instances of saving 22 minutes or even more than that is also available.
Further with two engines the train can afford hotel load converters which will create the provision of two extra modernized air-conditioned 3-tier coaches. This move will add to the revenue of Indian Railways, the official added.
Viewing the technology’s positive contributions Indian Railways has already issued an order to switch the fleet of Rajdhani Express trains over to the pull and push operation system and all the zonal railways have been instructed to revise new journey time accordingly.
These developments of Rajdhani Express trains would certainly influence other trains on Indian Railways network in coming days.
