Members of the Aqua Trek diving team deem every day as a normal day.
Like every other working group, preparation is important in order to successfully complete a day’s work.
For this diving team, they don’t have a normal office like most people in the workforce neither do they have computers.
In fact, their working area is the underwater world — soft coral diving, shark diving and shark feeding, which is a growing tourism industry.
However, taking tourists to the dive spot is not an easy task.
For Sitiveni Tuirewa, the boat captain, his duty is to make sure the boat is fully equipped to take them.
The diesel engine and safety equipment have to be checked to ensure they are in working condition.
For the divers, it is ensuring that all oxygen tanks are full and diving gear are in excellent conditions. Safety is always paramount when it comes to diving tours.
More importantly, the brief before the dive is always vital. Every diver is briefed on the do’s and the don’ts before they dive.
Ten minutes from Pacific Harbour is the world famous dive spot.
The boat, Island Spirit, is a twin inboard diesel, jet driven engine with a maximum speed of 25 knots.
“It is such an awesome experience,” said American tourist Emmie Lewis.
