Following the central government’s orders, Delhi government has allowed the opening of bars and restaurants and said that the requirement of tourism licences will also be removed.
“On the request of restaurateurs to allow 24×7 business, it was agreed that restaurants will be allowed to operate at all hours subject to the condition that they submit an undertaking that they will take care of the health and security of their entire staff,” read the official statement.
The central government has already issued guidelines for opening up of more activities in areas outside the containment zones depending on feedback received from States and UTs, and extensive consultations held with related Central Ministries and Departments.
With regards to regulation on gatherings, in closed places, the central government has allowed a maximum of 50% of the hall capacity to be filled, with a ceiling of 200 persons. Wearing of face masks, maintaining social distancing, provision for thermal scanning and use of hand wash or sanitizer will be mandatory.
“I have directed the respective departments to remove unnecessary hassles in the smooth running of restaurants in Delhi,” said CM Kejriwal.He also directed that health trade licences issued by municipal corporations to restaurants should be abolished within 10 days.
Earlier on October 7, CM Kejriwal allowed to reopen all the weekly markets and said that the cinema halls can also resume operations from October 15, as per Centre’s guidelines.
