Coronavirus | Trump says United States crisis ‘worse than Pearl Harbor’ or 9/11 attack

President Donald Trump on Wednesday said that fallout from the novel coronavirus pandemic has hit the United States harder than Pearl Harbor attack during the World War II or the 9/11 attacks.

“We went through the worst attack we have ever had in our country. This is really the worst attack we have ever had. This is worse than Pearl Harbour. This is worse than the World Trade Center. There has never been an attack like this,” he told reporters in the Oval Office of the White House during a meeting with nurses.

As per report, above 2,400 American soldiers were killed and over 1,100 others were wounded when the Imperial Japanese Army launched a surprise attack at a Pearl Harbor naval base in Honolulu, Hawaii on the morning of December 7, 1941. The attack led to the United States’ formal entry into World War II the next day.

The September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks killed about 3,000 people, mostly in the World Trade Center in New York, triggering two decades of US wars and anti-terrorism operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and other countries which is still going on.

Meanwhile, as on Wednesday , the coronavirus outbreak has infected more than 12 lakh people in the United States alone and has killed more than 73,000 people. The United States is the worst affected country by the pandemic that has originated in China.
