Covid-19 updates : UK PM Boris Johnson making steady progress, watching movies, taking part in Sudoku

British Prime Minister is now “making good progress” and sitting up in bed playing Sudoku and watching some of his favorite films, a Government source said. Though there was no update on when he is likely to be discharged after being treated for coronavirus.

Johnson examined positive for the novel coronavirus on March 26, was admitted to St Thomas Hospital on April 5 and referred to the ICU on April 6.

After spending three days within the ICU, the prime minister has been shifted again to the Covid-19 ward at St Thomas hospital. A Downing Road spokesperson stated, “The Prime Minister continues to make superb progress.”

It has been reported that PM Johnson has been spending his time watching motion pictures. The movies he has been watching are said to include Withnail And I, starring Richard E Grant, and the Lord Of The Rings trilogy. He has also been playing sudoku.He has also been engaged reading letters sent to him by Carrie Symonds, his fiancée.

Speaking at the Downing Street press briefing, Chancellor Rishi Sunak paid tribute to his friend Mr Johnson adding his condition was a reminder the virus was “indiscriminate”.

Ms Symonds also showed the Prime Minister baby scans to lift his spirits during his time in intensive care.

Dominic Raab, the Foreign Secretary, is currently deputising for him.

The news came as the Health Secretary announced 19 NHS workers have died after testing positive for coronavirus.

Mr Hancock said the Government is investigating whether the workers contracted the virus in the line of duty.
