Sikkim bags ‘Oscar for best policies’ being World’s first Organic State: Global eyes now at India’s tiny tourism paradise

After being declared the first Organic state of India in 2016 now its turn for the Himalayan state Sikkim to glorify India’s pride by becoming the first Organic state of World as declared recently by UN FAO(Food and Agricultural Association) during the World Food Week at headquarters of FAO in Rome. Surpassing 51 participated nominees of 25 countries of the world,Sikkim achieved this Global recognition ‘The Future Policy Award 2018’ for its effort boosting ‘Agroecological and Sustainable Food System’.

While receiving the award from M.H.Semedo,the Dy.Director FAO,the proud CM of Sikkim,Pawan Kumar Chamling urged the world to come forward to create a Organic World.He also pleaded the world community not to encourage any developmental work that harms the environment.The Dy Director Semedo also praised the CM for his successful and brilliant approach towards organic farming and sustainable practices that transforms the state to a fully organic state and helps the state for rural growth and sustainable tourism which sets an outstanding example for the world to follow.She also put emphasis on for a Chemical free World.

While Sikkim achieved the highest UN FAO award,Brazil,Denmark and Quito in Ecuador shares the Silver.
