Being upset over some human resource issues, a 37-year-old hotel cook in California had threatened of a mass shooting inside a hotel. Acting on the tip-off, California police has arrested the man who was found to have high-powered weapons and ammunition at his Los Angeles home.
The Police Chief of the region, Robert Luna said that the man, named Rodolfo Montoya made the threat to one of his colleagues at a Marriott hotel near Long Beach airport. Luna thanked the man who bothered to bring that information forward to the police.
As per the police statement, they seized multiple firearms along with an assault rifle, hundreds of rounds of ammunition and tactical gear from his home in Huntington Beach. These sort of assault rifle and high-capacity magazines were illegal in California.
The police officer said, he had “clear intent, plans and the means to carry out an act of terrible violence which may have resulted in a mass casualty incident.”
Since such incidents are frequent in USA, to fight it out has become a huge challenge for the US administration. Therefore in a wider FBI effort to prevent such shootings this incident has come up.
Further the US authorities claim that they have foiled a series of alleged plots to carry out attacks, out of which some have targeted minority groups.
The FBI has reportedly instructed its field offices to keep a close eye on threat assessments and has also urged the public to report threats or suspicious activities.
