As Yamuna Is Feared To cross danger mark On Monday, Flood alert Has Been Issued For India’s Capital

Authorities have issued an alert for a flood-like situation in Delhi today, as the water level of the Yamuna river was nearing the danger mark and was feared to rise  further. People residing in low-lying areas of the city are adviced to take essential measures to avoid a flood-like situation.

As intimated by an official, yesterday, Yamuna’s water level reached 203.27 metres, a little below the warning level of 204.5  metres. Today this is expected to rise upto 207 metres as 8.28 lakh cusecs water was released from Haryana’s Hathini Kund barrage at yesterday evening.

Several rivers and dams of different states are overflowing due to incessant rainfall since the beginning of August

The Delhi government is fully prepared with erect tents in nearby areas to accommodate the people from low-lying areas and issued instructions to all sub-divisional magistrates to shift all of them with the help of Delhi Police and civil defence volunteers by 9am today.

Regarding this, a meeting was also held on Sunday evening  to discuss measures for a flawless handling of any flood-like situation. 

Along with Dehli, several other Indian states like Punjab, Rajasthan and Andhra pradesh are also under flood alerts now.
