Awarding an interesting environmental friendly behaviour the Manipur state government has appointed a nine-year-old girl as the brand ambassador for the Chief Minister’s ‘Green Manipur Mission’. The little girl was designated as the ‘Green Ambassador’ of the state when a video of her crying on seeing a couple of trees planted by her being cut down, went viral on social media.
Elangbam Valentina Devi, now a Class V student, hails from Manipur’s Kakching district, planted two Gulmohar (royal poinciana) saplings by the banks of a river, four years back. Last week, the trees were chopped down as part of a road expansion project, which hurt the girl very much.
She cried and a video capturing the moment, was posted by her uncle on social media, went viral. The video shows that the girl was sobbing profusely as she was hurt by the fact that the trees planted by her being cut down. Watching it, many people appreciated the passion of the little girl and supported her whole heatedly.
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh responded to the matter immediately by rushing at her place with his team and tried to console her by providing more saplings. The C M twitted, “Now She will be the State government,s “Green Ambassador” for C M’s “Green Manipur Mission.” Let’s follow her, save nature .
Acknowledging Valentina Devi’s immense love and exemplary affection for the trees, the CM office has made her the ‘Green Ambassador’ for one year. As per official sources, a government order in this regard was issued on Wednesday.
If we look for the category of young ambassadors, one more name of Millie Bobby Brown is also emerging. This Emmy-nominated actress was appointed as the UN’s ‘Goodwill Ambassador’ at the age of 14 on 20 November 2018.
