Being a country of high mountains, Nepal is particularly famous for adventure tourism such as trekking, climbing, rafting and many more. Undoubtedly, it is world’s no.1 choice for adventure tourism. But the only thing it misses, is a touch of luxury in it. Moving ahead in this direction, Nepal Tourism Board is organising a program – “Visit Nepal 2020” to boost its tourism sector even more. Highlighting the country’s major tourist destinations, Nepal government is working hard to mark the year 2020, a successful period for its tourism industry. By the end of the coming year, the Tourism Board has targeted to welcome over two million tourists to its soil.
In this context, the Indian market continues to be one of the most remarkable contributors of international visitors into Nepal. Factually, in the year 2018, the Nepal Tourism Board recorded 200,438 visitors from India alone.
To luxuriate the industry, the Nepal government plans to operate two new international airports – Pokhara and Lumbini – and will introduce the Airbus 330-200 with an intend of availing airline services to the growing number of tourists.
Adding to the game plan, the Nepal government is thinking of extending the working hour of the Tribhuvan International Airport for another three hours from the regular 18 hours, to facilitate both inbound and outbound tourist with continuous service.
In order to ensure that Nepal is not a place for adventure only, but for luxury as well, there is a plan of adding 4000 more rooms in the four and five-star hotels in Kathmandu, Chitwan and Pokhara. Many international hotel chains, including Hilton and Marriott, are thinking to operate properties in Nepal in coming years.
