The mythical Seven Kingdoms of the popular “Game of Thrones” have admirably been translated into a unique ice hotel named “SnowVillage”, at Lapland in Finland. The followers of the show, who have long been dreamed of visiting its illusory kingdoms, can now ultimately experience them, here in this hotel in actual.Lapland Hotels SnowVillage, being associated with HBO Nordic, has chosen to create the magical ‘Game of Thrones’-themed hotel once more. Earlier, the hotel used to draw themes from the surroundings of nature. Constructed in the year 2000, SnowVillage has included the ‘Game of Thrones’ section in 2018 for the first time.
Located in Finnish Lapland near Kittilä, well into the Arctic Circle and an hour-and-a-half flight from Helsinki, the SnowVillage is made entirely of snow and ice and it took just five weeks to be shaped. This year, professional ice sculptors from Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and Finland have showed off their incredible artworks in the hotel’s snow suites based on the theme of ‘Game of Throne’. 400,000 kilos of ice have been used to create the ‘G o T’ where guests can sleep surrounded by the army of the dead, dragons and dire wolves.
The hotel is highlighted with a Sept of Baelor, an iron throne, and a dragon which looks almost real. Further the it is equipped with 16 suite rooms, each with their own unique sculptures exquisitely crafted into the ice walls. The most stunning one is the giant Wun Wun watching over you when you sleep.
With 10°C (50°F) average temperature the weather outside the hotel is a clement one, while the inside temperature of the ice hotel, is maintained within 5°C (23°F). So the guests are being catered with high quality thermal sleeping bags and a morning cup of hot berry juice to get the blood flowing.
However, the hotel allows only one night to stay inside the ice-castles and if visitors want a longer stay than that, they can enjoy it in one of its adjacent cozy cabins.
Additionally, the SnowVillage is featured with an ice movie theater, where you can watch the visual documentary on how the the marvelous property has been created. The hotel’s the Ice Restaurant, also offers a three-course meal to its visitors which includes local foods like reindeer and arctic char in its menu. And speaking about its IceBar, the most demanded drink here is vodka, apart from wine, which is shot served in an ice-glass.
There is also an ice chapel to manage any sort of defrauds in the hotel and to conduct the nuptial ties as well. In the current season, SnowVillage is going to host 25 to 30 weddings, according to the crew.
The entry fee to the SnowVillage is $20 (€17.50) and its rooms tariffs start at $550 (€480); the hotel will remain open through April 21, 2019.
