Himachal Pradesh, famed as the Paragliding Capital of India, because enjoying paragliding here in its panoramic landscapes is simply a never forgetting experience. As a wonderful sport it not only enables adventurers to relish the excitement of flying, but also offers wonderful scenic views along with it.Since the sport is in high demand, Himachal Pradesh Tourism authorities have decided to involve private players to train the interested youths for the paragliding activities in Dharmashala, Bir Billing and Manali.
Among all Bir Billing in Kangra Valley and Solang Nala in Manali are the two best places in the state to enjoy the sport. Still there are some other places where tourist can enjoy paragliding. They are :
*Rohtang Pass (3978 meters above sea level)
*Kothi (2500 meters above sea level)
*Bijli Mahadev (2460 meters above sea level)
*Bandla Ridge (2600 meters above sea level)
According to Madhu Chaudhary, Deputy director, Himachal Tourism, two private organizations have been signed up to train the interested youths of the region, in the coming months. The organizations are, ‘The Bir Billing Association’ and ‘Himalayan Adventure Sports’. The intetested candidates have to apply in order to get them registered for the training sessions and the last date for it will be 31st January 2019.
To train about 40 youths, the two organizations have been contracted against the payment of 2 lakh each. Apart from these two private players the army that use to be involved in paragliding activities in this area, can also play a major role as trainers.
Paragliding is a major adventure game so far as the tourism sector is concerned. In India, Himachal pradesh have gained a global fame for hosting it. Bir Billing, particularly, witnessed many international championships of the game, in the previous years. The sport not only serve the entertainment side but also plays a vital role in providing financial aid to the locals. Taking all this in view, it is very disheartening that the much demanded adventure activity of the region doesn’t have any proper training centre. Lacking proper hold on the sport, causes the flyers to face frequent accidents and further enhances the need of a suitable training centre here.
