The Indian Embassy in UAE issued a warning message to its citizens living in UAE on Thursday regarding some fraudsters who claim to represent the mission.
In a public notice, which the Embassy shared on Twitter, the mission urged Indians not to entertain such unknown calls and exercise extra caution against those unknown callers.
The fraudsters, which use the telephone number 02-4492700 claims themselves as the representatives of the mission. They ask victims to deposit money in various bank accounts in the name of the Indian Embassy.
The Indian Embassy urged its citizens to avoid entertaining such fraud calls. Those who do receive them are advised to alert the mission via email (hoc.abudhabi@mea.gov.in). Taking it one step further, the mission has also communicated the authorities in UAE and in touch with them to prevent such fraudulent calls.
