Benidorm Hoteliers ‘declaring war’ on Brits for air Con and taps on wasting loads of Energy

Benidorm is a beautiful city  in eastern Spain, was once a tiny fishing village till the 1960s. Today it is a popular holiday destination known for its hotel industry, beaches and skyscrapers and boisterous nightlife.

 

In a recent move the Energy-conscious hoteliers in Benidorm have declared war on careless tourists who are using three clean towels each day and leaving the air conditioning on 24 hours a day even when they are not available in the room.As per record  1 million plus Brits holiday there every year.

Hotel Owners says guests are not considering the environment or energy bills.Some selfish guests also so careless keeping  the hot water running even after they have finished their shower and they are just thinking about themselves.. So hoteliers want that holidaymakers should be well educated about being sustainable. 

 

Hoteliers in the resort, which has been a much-loved with Brits for years, are now backing plans across a number of holiday destinations in Spain to educate travellers  and make them more conscious for environment  during their stays.

 

One of the hotel there  has already installed a sensor system where the air conditioning is automatically switched off if a balcony door is left open while the occupants of that room are at the beach.

 

Hoteliers say they are putting their best effort towards better sustainability and want to reduce the cost of electricity bills, which are paralysed many hotels.

 

However, at a national conference in Benidorm, called Re Think Hotel, owners admitted there are several barriers  in the way, that includes ‘the attitude of customers’.
