No Trains will be delayed of Fog : Indian Railways made significant changes

As winter has set in, railways has started handling the tough season, which is marked apart by unwarranted delay in running of trains because of thick fog and anguishing wait for travelers at station for long.

Indian Railways, making changes in its policy and the Railway Board has been given the right to monitor the passenger trains now. So far this work was done by the Zonal Railway officials. This decision will help in maintaining the speed of trains in fog and they will reach their destinations on time, said the experts.

Railway Board Chairman Ashwani Lohani directed the authorities to permit right to all 68 divisions for the timely observance of trains . This will be the first time that train timelines will be monitored by the division instead of the zonal railway. As per the order, the Centre for Railway Information System (CRIS) has to upload the user ID and the password system of Additional Railway Divisional Managers (ADRM) of all the divisions so that they could be intercepted in the system of train timekeeping surveillance.

It is mentioned that the ADRM will have the right to track the train timings, to decide the responsibilities of personnel and prepare daily reports. Railway experts say the  decision will encourage a healthy competition to run trains in all divisions on time and better coordination with all ADRM will improve timeliness.

GPS-based device will help :

Railway Board’s made an order to run trains at a speed of 75 kilometers per hour which is going to be implemented from 15th December, this year.Fact is trains usually  running at a speed of 50-60 kmph. The Railway Board has taken this decision after fixing the anti-fog  device to most  train engines.

With the help of this GPS-based anti-fog device installed in train engines at the front , Derivers can easily track the location of the next signal in real time. The device has sensors and digital display boards inside the engine which gives a near perfect picture of the condition of the track.

Lower the apprehensions of delays :

The timing maintenance of trains is more than 83 percent in clear weather. But in the fog it falls to 50 to 60 percent. Now with the new arrangements in order, the chances of delay proportion of train timings will drop radically.
