Corinthia Hotels will be expanding its operations to New York City with a deal to take over management of ‘The Surrey’ once it reopens following extensive refurbishment. It was built in 1926.
The hotel which located on Manhattan’s luxurious upper east side, is scheduled to reopen in early 2023.
It was acquired by private investment firm Reuben Brothers in 2020 and will be the first Corinthia-run property in the United States.
The reimagined property will house 97 guestrooms including 33 suites and five signature suites and 12 luxury residences.
As part of the revamp, Corinthia Hotels has tapped the team behind Miami Beach-based restaurant, hotel and private club concept Casa Tua to spearhead the Surrey’s food and beverage programming. The property will reopen with a number of new dining concepts, including Italian eatery Casa Tua Cucina and an outpost of Casa Tua’s private, members-only club.
The Surrey was previously managed by Denihan Hospitality.
The Surrey, a Corinthia Hotel will join Corinthia Hotels’ existing portfolio of nine properties across Europe and the Middle East and Africa.
