Denmark Brings In New Regional Model For Travel Guides

The tourism ministry of the Scandinavian country Denmark has recently issued its new travel guideline model which is going to be based on current infection levels in regions within individual countries.

According to the guidelines the concerned authorities will be able to advise against travel to one region of a country, and at the same time can also issue travel clearances to  other regions too. Denmark’s tourism industry has been strongly advocated such changes to its regional tourism model.

This particular model will be applicable to countries in the EU, Schengen area and the United Kingdom.

Currently Denmark is following the norms of allowing travellers to the areas where infection rates must be below 30 infections per week per 100,000 inhabitants. The newly issued travel regulations is also going to follow the same threshold nationally.

Nevertheless, when Covid-19 prevalence across the continent is  at its peak, the change to a regional model is unlikely to immediately influence the already enforced travel guidelines.

Additionally, this new regional travel guideline may also ask the travellers to document a negative Covid-19 test  at the border.

In another change from current guidelines, the foreign ministry is to redirect the people who are returning from so-called ‘red’ countries, to where travel is not advised.

Presently, people returning from these areas are adviced for a 14 days-isolation period after returning home.

The new model regulations will become fully effective in December and the isolation period will now be revised down to 10 days and can be further shortened if a Covid-19 test is taken and returns with a negative result. After arriving in Denmark the test must be taken at least within four days.

It is to be pointed out here that Denmark is to join the EU’s arrangement to acquire coronavirus vaccine from producers Pfizer and BioNTech, as confirmed by its health minister Magnus Heunicke in a Twitter post.
