The global coronavirus cases has crossed 24 lakh while death toll has gone up to 1.65 lakh, according to latest data from Johns Hopkins University. The US reported over 759,569 cases and death toll in the country has gone up above 40,000 reaching 40,585 by Sunday.
Spain (198,674 cases and 20,453 deaths), Italy (178,972 cases and 23,660 deaths), France (154,098 cases and 19,718 deaths), Germany (145,742 cases and 4,642 deaths) and United Kingdom (121,172 cases and 16,060 deaths) are among the other badly hit countries.
New York which has become a hotspot area in the United States has suffered the most. According to an IANS report that over 14,451 deaths were reported just from New York City. Other states reported maximum deaths in US are, New Jersey reported 4,364 deaths, Michigan reported 2,308 fatalities and Massachusetts recorded 1,560 deaths.
The otheer countries with the most numbers of COVID-19 positive cases are Turkey (86,306), China (83,805), Iran (82,211) and Russia (42,853).
With 1,553 more Covid-19 cases, India’s total coronavirus cases has reached 17,615 with 543 fatalities as on Monday. In last 24 hours 1553 cases and 36 deaths reported which is the highest single-day spike in India.
Maharashtra continues to be the worst-hit with 3,651 cases and 211 fatalities. Followed by Delhi, where the number of COVID-19 cases stands at 2000 and while 45 patients have lost their lives.
While some states have decided to ease lockdown restrictions in non-hotspot zones from today as per the guidelines of the Centre, Delhi, Telangana and Punjab have decided against relaxations. Chief Minister of Goa Pramod Sawant has called Goa a ‘Zero coronavirus case’ state after the last patient tested negative yesterday. All seven COVID19 patients in the state have now tested negative for COVID-19.
