The world’s renowned football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has come forward to join the fight against the novel coronavirus and decided to convert all his hotels in Portugal into hospitals to treat the patients free of charge. In addition to this, the Juventus ace striker has also decided to pay for doctors and medical staff.
As reported in a Spanish daily, Juventus forward Ronaldo will use his CR7 brand of hotels, transforming them into makeshift ‘hospitals’ to facilitate those suffering the global epidemic. The newspaper also reported that the hospitals will offer free of charge service and Ronaldo will pay for doctors and workers.
Earlier, Ronaldo has expressed his concerns over the spread of coronavirus and advised people to follow the guidelines of the WHO.
Ronaldo said, the world is going through a very difficult moment which demands the extreme care and attention from all.He said he speaks to all not as a football player, rather as a human being, a son, father concerned with the recent developments that is affecting the whole world.
Even though the leading Spanish daily reported the news, a Portugal journalist, Filipe Caetano, on Sunday said the information posted ‘is not true’.
The novel coronavirus has jolted the global sporting calendar which also led to the suspension of a series of sporting events, including NBA, ATP and WTA tournaments, top-tier football leagues across Europe and the US and major cricket tournaments that includes the famous Indian Premier League.
