In the midst of tensions between US and Iran, the Ministry of External Affairs has advised its citizens to avoid all non-essential travel to Iraq until further notifications released.
Indian nationals residing in Iraq are advised to be more cautious and may avoid travel within Iraq, the advisory said.
Indian Embassy in Baghdad and Consulate in Erbil will continue to function normally to provide all services to its citizens residing in Iraq, the advisory further said.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation also told all Indian carriers to remain alert and take all precautions in the waters of Persian Gulf and avoid airspace over Iran, Iraq, Gulf of Oman.
The travel advisory comes after Iran fired ballistic missiles against two airbases in Iraq where US and coalition forces are based.
