Ina recent move, Pakistan has conveyed to India that pilgrims travelling through the Kartarpur corridor on Saturday must pay the USD 20 fee, as sources said on Friday.
Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan said earlier in his twitter handle that no fee would be charged from the pilgrims on the opening day of the corridor and on day of Guru Nanak’s 550th birth anniversary.
The Darbar Sahib at Kartarpur in Pakistan is just four kilometres away from the International Border with India, located at Narowal district of Pakistan’s Punjab province.
Earlier India and Pakistan after tough negotiations signed an agreement, paving the way for the inauguration of the Kartarpur Corridor on November 9, ahead of the 550th birth anniversary of the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak Dev on November 12.
As per the agreement, 5,000 Indian pilgrims will be allowed on a daily basis to visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib where Guru Nanak spent last 18 years of his life. Each visitor has to pay USD 20 as fee, despite the fact that India has requested Pakistan not to charge the Indian pilgrims.
