On the basis of its tourists footfalls, India has peresented a flexible e-tourist visa regime with higher fee for its peak season (July to March) and a comparatively a lower fee for its lean period (between April to June).
The move is introduced to attract more foreign tourists to visit India, said the Tourism Minister Prahlad Patel, while speaking on tourism at a meeting with state government representatives on Tuesday.
He said, ‘India is to offer 30-day e-tourist visa with USD 10 fee during the lean period i.e. from April to June and USD 25 fee during peak tourism period from July to March.’
Also a new five-year e-tourist visa plan will be introduced against a charge of USD 80 while an one year e-tourist visa will come up with a fee of USD 40 .
But countries such as Japan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, for the lean period, will have to pay only USD 10 as visa fees and for e-visa of 30 days, 1 year and 5 years their visa fee will be USD 25.
