Again with a tourist friendly movement, the Tourism Ministry of India has come up with a decision of including a new QR code to its monogram, considering complaints against hotels, travel agencies and shops near tourist hotspot misusing and even illegally using the Ministry’s monogram. Going by the compliants, what has been found is that, mostly foreign tourists are duped in this.
Within 100 days, the ministry will introduce this new QR code-compliant monogram to help tourists scan and verify the authenticity of the entity. As per sources, the ministry has already started probing the organizations those are misusing its monogram.
After meeting all the criterias, entities have been awarded with monograms by the Tourism Ministry and the QR code will provide detailed information about those entities. As we all know, monogram is a design based on alphabetic letters of an entity’s name, which is put in the things, it owns.
Speaking on this a Tourism Ministry Official told, “The idea is to ensure that tourists are not cheated. After being authorized, only verified entities would be able to use the monogram. Also, the QR code can’t be duplicated.”
Upon scanning the QR code, the tourist would get all the required information about the entity — its name, address and phone number etc. As seen, “With the Ministry’s monogram, tourists mostly opt for hotel or travel services,” said the official.
The Ministry also found that many entities after procuring the monogram fail to maintain the quality of service still and its implications are felt on the industry at last. To check this, the ministry has decided to identify the entities failing to maintain the standards and to take necessary measures against them.
