Maharashtra rains live updates: Schools, colleges in Mumbai, Pune, Thane shut on Monday,All local trains operational

On Monday morning The South Central Railway cancelled at least 18 trains running through Maharashtra due to heavy rainfall in the state. Yesterday night, at least 12 trains were cancelled, with many being diverted or shortly-terminated or re-scheduled.

As per report,hundreds of passengers were left stranded at the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) railway station on Sunday after the Central Railway announced the cancellation and diversion of trains due to the heavy rainfall and waterlogging in Mumbai.

BMC Ward officer from L Ward came to the aid distributing food packages and tea to the stranded passengers at the railway station.

Mumbai reeled under heavy downpour and  normal life was thrown out of gear on Sunday.India Meteorological Department (IMD) has already  predicted the further intensity of rain on Monday and Tuesday.

The weather bulletin of IMD said that intermittent rain or showers with heavy falls at isolated places expected in city and suburbs for the next 24 hours.

Private and public schools in Mumbai, its suburbs, Palghar, Thane and Raigad will remain closed on Monday and people have been asked to move out only if absolutely needed. Government offices providing essential services have been told to report to service late, if necessary.

As reported ,Five persons drowned in three separate incidents at Navi Mumbai, Palghar and Thane as since Friday. While five bodies recovered, another person feared dead in Navi Mumbai is yet to be traced.
