With its new tourist attractions and captivating annual events, Singapore is now ready to woo Indian tourists more in numbers. For this the Singapore Tourism Board has organised roadshows in eight different Indian cities. Recently the board also held discussions with several stakeholders, including various tour and travel companies to collaborate with this creative initiative and attract more tourists.The STB officials have confirmed that being associated with 45 Singaporean tourism stakeholders, representing hotels, airlines, integrated resorts, attractions, destination management companies and cruise operators, the Board has organised an eight-city roadshow, in major Indian cities like Thiruvananthapuram, Hyderabad, Madurai, Kolkata, Rajkot, Guwahati, Nagpur and Jalandhar.
Explaining their marketing strategy to capture the India’s tourism market, Director (South Asia) of STB Adrian Kong said, “Our new offerings include Passion tours, Jewel Changi Airport, Rainforest Lumina and many more. The roadshow, themed as “Growing Connections, Achieving Together”, would present the latest attractions of Singapore tourism.”
In tourism, India is undoubtedly a potential market for Singapore after China and Indonesia. In 2018 with 1.44 million footfalls, which is an increase of 13% compared to its previous year, India has made a prominent mark in Singapore’s tourism industry. This was for the fourth time in a row that the number of visitors from India crossed a million.
Again, citing India is an important source market for Singapore, STB India, Middle East and South Asia regional director G B Srithar said, “In terms of visitor arrivals, last year, India retained its position as the third highest contributor for Singapore tourism market.”
