A four-storey building built on the banks of Kumhratti-Nahan Highway of Solan district in Himachal Pradesh collapsed on sunday amidst heavy rains in the area.35 people were feared to be buried in the rubble. So far, 23 people have been rescued under debris. It includes 18 Army personnel. As per report, still 12 Army personnel are trapped. Three people have reportedly died in this accident including two jawans.Two bodies have been pulled out of the debris.
The trapped people that include this Army personnel and their family members who were on their way to Uttarakhand and had stopped at the restaurant based on the same building for lunch, the official said.
The rescued people sustained multiple injuries and have been admitted to a nearby hospitalThe Indian Army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and police are jointly carrying out the rescue operation, the official said, adding that National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team has also been called from Panchkula in Haryana.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur told that the NDRF team has reached the spot from Panchkula and the team of doctors has reached the spot. Rescue work is still going on. I hope the rescue work will be completed in the next few hours. The incident happening will be comprehensively investigated.
